The Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Puraskar 2026 is a prestigious national award instituted to recognize outstanding contributions of scientists, technologists, innovators, and extension professionals in the field of agriculture and allied sciences in India. The award honors excellence in agricultural research, innovation, education, and extension activities that have led to significant socio-economic and environmental impact. It acknowledges groundbreaking work that contributes to the advancement of agricultural systems, technological development, and sustainable growth, continuing India’s legacy of transformative agricultural revolutions. The award covers multiple categories including Innovation & Technology, Research, Outstanding Inter-Disciplinary Team Research, Outstanding Woman Scientist, and Outstanding Young Scientist in agriculture and allied sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
All Indian scientists, technologists, innovators, and extension scientists working in agriculture, agricultural education, extension, and allied sciences in ICAR Research Institutes, Public Agricultural Institutions, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras in India are eligible to apply.
The research, innovation, or extension work must demonstrate proven socio-economic and/or environmental impact supported by proper documentation from the Head of the Institution.
Applicants must not have any pending judicial or departmental proceedings at the time of nomination. They must not have received any major penalty in the last five years.
An applicant can submit only one application for a specific contribution in a given year. Applications are valid only for one year and will not be carried forward.
For individual categories such as Innovation & Technology and Research, applicants (or Team Leaders in case of teams) must be below 60 years of age as of the application closing date.
For the Outstanding Young Scientist category, applicants must possess a doctoral degree, hold a regular position in the ICAR-SAU system, and be below 45 years of age as of the closing date.
For the Outstanding Woman Scientist category, applicants must be women scientists below 60 years of age working in recognized institutions.
For the Outstanding Inter-Disciplinary Team Research category, the team must include at least three members representing multiple disciplines and the Team Leader must be below 60 years of age.

Nominations can be submitted by individuals, institutions, government bodies, academic heads, scientific organizations, or through self-nomination.
Applications must be submitted in the prescribed proforma (Annexure format).
Only one application per contribution per year is allowed.
All required impact evidence and institutional verification must be attached.
