Scholarship Programme For Diaspora Children 2026
The Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) 2026, initiated by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, aims to support undergraduate education for children of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and Indian workers in Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries. The program enables eligible students to pursue quality higher education in India by covering a significant portion of institutional expenses. By reducing financial constraints, the scholarship encourages students of Indian origin to strengthen their academic and cultural ties with India while studying in recognized Indian institutions.
Documents Required
Applicants submit the following documents: Class 12 Mark Sheets / Transcripts Class 11 Passing Certificate Work Permit of Parent (ECR Countries) PIO Card / OCI Card NRI Certificate Annual Salary Certificate of Parents Declaration of Non-Receipt of Other Scholarships
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria: Applicants must be children of NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, or Indian workers employed in ECR countries. The student should have secured admission to the first year of an undergraduate course in a recognized Indian institution, while medical students may apply from the second year onward. The applicant must be between 17 and 21 years of age as per the prescribed cut-off date and must have completed Class 11 and Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
