The Sanskriti Pratishthan invites applications for the annual Smt. Madhobi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship in Indian Classical Music and Dance. This fellowship is designed for young artists who aspire to contribute to the enrichment of Indian classical music and dance. The fellowship is managed by the Sanskriti Pratishthan, an organization with a rich legacy of offering awards and fellowships in the fields of arts, performing arts, culture, media, and social activism for over 30 years. The Smt. Madhobi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship aims to nurture promising young artists by providing them with the resources and time required to focus on and enhance their skills. The fellowship offers a grant of Rs. 1,00,000 to support the development and perfection of the artist's craft.
Through this initiative, the fellowship aspires to empower artists in their journey of artistic excellence, ensuring they have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the classical arts community.
Documents Required
Applicants submit the following documents:
  • Two-page CV: A detailed curriculum vitae highlighting your academic and artistic achievements.
  • Project Write-up: A maximum of 500 words explaining the proposed project or artistic pursuit during the fellowship.
  • Contact Information: Full postal address, telephone number, and email ID for communication.
  • Samples of Previous Work: Submit samples showcasing your previous performances, projects, or works that reflect your artistic expertise.
  • Eligibility Criteria
    Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • The Fellowship is open to Indian nationals from any genre of Indian Classical Music (Vocal or Instrumental) or Dance (any form or choreography).
  • Proposals that further the objectives of the program are welcome.
  • The candidate should have at least some years of formal training in Indian Classical Music or Dance.
  • The fellow must have given at least 2-3 solo performances to their credit.
  • The candidate will be facilitated to take guidance from a source that is unavailable to them, to enhance their existing style.
  • The fellowship can be a residency program lasting a minimum of three months, which may be spread over a period of ten months.
