The Hamdard Education Society, New Delhi, established the Talent Search and Scholarship Scheme in 1986 at the instance of the late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb. This initiative provides loan scholarships to exceptionally bright Muslim students across India, with a primary focus on Science, Engineering, and Medicine, while also considering Commerce and Social Sciences (including Economics). The scholarship aims to support meritorious but financially needy students in continuing their higher education and nurturing them into future leaders.
The loan scholarship is awarded on a merit-cum-means basis and is renewable annually based on academic performance. Repayment begins two years after completion of education, ensuring that the scheme can benefit more deserving students in the future.
