American India Foundation Banyan Impact Fellowship 2026
The American India Foundation (AIF) Banyan Impact Fellowship 2026–27 is a prestigious 10-month immersive service program designed for young professionals from India and the United States. The fellowship aims to develop future leaders by placing them with grassroots organizations across India, where they work on high-impact projects connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through hands-on fieldwork, mutual learning, and structured leadership development, the fellowship empowers emerging changemakers to contribute meaningfully to areas such as education, public health, climate action, gender equity, livelihoods, arts, sports, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. This program strengthens U.S.–India collaboration and nurtures youth leadership committed to social change.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria: The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or an Indian Citizen. The applicant must be 21–35 years old by October 1, 2026. The applicant must have completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent before the program start date. The applicant must be willing and able to serve full-time in India for 10 months. The applicant must be ready to receive a COVID-19 vaccine before the fellowship begins. The applicant must demonstrate skills, relevant experience, and a strong willingness to learn from host communities. The applicant must be willing to learn a local language if required by the project. The applicant should be committed to enriching the fellowship community and strengthening U.S.–India cooperation. Applicants may apply only for the India-based OR the U.S.-based fellowship, not both in the same year.
