ICAI Doctoral Scholarship
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is seeking applications from students pursuing a Ph.D. degree in fields like Auditing, Taxation, Commerce, Management, and Accounting. The scholarship aims to provide financial support to deserving candidates who are members of the institute. Every year, the scholarship will be awarded to five students for a duration of three years.
Documents Required
  • Research Proposal (not more than 3000 words)
  • Abstract of Research Proposal (not more than 300 words)
  • Self-Attested copy of proofs of qualification for NET/SLET/MPhil, etc.
  • Self-Attested copy of ICAI Membership
  • Self-Attested copy of Ph.D. Enrolment/Registration

    Eligibility Criteria
  • Be a member of ICAI.
  • Be below 40 years of age on the date of application.
  • Be a full-time student at a recognized University/College/Institution while pursuing Ph.D. for attending classes.
  • Not be availing of any other scholarship for the same purpose.
  • The application must be forwarded by the candidate's Ph.D. supervisor or any other competent signing authority of the University/College/Institution.
  • Applicants should apply only if their Ph.D. research focuses on a relevant and contemporary topic, aligns with the current economic scenario, adds value to society, is scalable, and has global relevance.

  • Selected candidates will receive Rs. 75,000 per month.
  • The scholarship will be awarded to a maximum of five scholars annually for a period of three years.
  • A contingency grant of Rs. 50,000 per annum will be provided.
    • Selection
  • Applications will be initially scrutinized by the Research Committee Secretariat.
  • The Shortlisting Committee will then shortlist the meritorious proposals from the eligible applications.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be invited for a presentation before the Shortlisting Committee.
  • The recommendations of the Shortlisting Committee will be presented to the Research Committee for final approval.
  • Regular monitoring of the scholarship will be based on quarterly and annual progress reports submitted by the scholar and duly forwarded by the supervisor.
  • The scholarship may be discontinued if research progress is unsatisfactory or if ICAI rules are violated.
  • Annual presentations/mid-term appraisals of the research work may be required during the scholarship period.
  • Scholars are required to publish at least one research paper annually in an International Journal of Repute and one in the ICAI Journal based on their research theme.
