Pre And Post Matric Scholarship For Person With Disabilities 2024
Education is a key factor in the socio-economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Recognizing its importance, the Directive Principles of State Policy in the Constitution of India and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 emphasize the States' role in realizing the Right to Education for Persons with Disabilities. Article 41 of the Constitution directs the State to make provisions for securing the right to education and public assistance in cases of disability. Article 46 promotes the educational and economic interests of the weaker sections of society, and Article 38(2) aims to minimize inequalities in income, status, facilities, and opportunities among individuals and groups. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, offers six scholarship schemes for students with benchmark disabilities: Pre-matric Scholarship, Post-matric Scholarship, Top Class Education Scholarship, National Overseas Scholarship, National Fellowship, and Free Coaching Scheme.
