HG Wells Short Story Competition 2026
The HG Wells Short Story Competition 2026 is an international creative writing competition established by BBC Aeronautics Correspondent Reg Turnill and his wife, Margaret, to celebrate the life and literary legacy of H.G. Wells. The competition encourages imaginative storytelling, particularly among young writers. The 2026 theme is “The Cheat.” Participants may set their stories anywhere, use any characters, and write in any style, provided the submission is original and previously unpublished. Entries must be written in English and should be between 1,500 and 5,000 words.
