D Devaraja Arasu Foreign Study Scholarship 2024
The D. Devaraja Arasu Foreign Study Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship offered by the Backward Classes Welfare Department to support deserving students from Backward Classes Category-1, 2A, 3A, and 3B to pursue Master Degree and Ph.D. studies at recognized foreign universities. This scholarship aims to help students gain quality education abroad and contribute to their academic and professional growth. The D. Devaraja Arasu Foreign Study Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students pursuing Masters or Ph.D. studies at foreign universities. Students who meet the eligibility criteria and submit their applications through the official online portal can receive tuition fee support up to a maximum of Rs. 10 lakh per year or the actual cost, whichever is lower.
Documents Required
Applicants submit the following documents: Caste and Income Certificate: Must be obtained from the Tahsildar in the applicant’s name. Degree Mark Sheets: From the last degree/diploma completed. Passport: A valid passport for international travel. Visa: A copy of the visa, if available. Offer Letter/I-20: Issued by the university or institute where the student is admitted. Cost Details: A breakdown of the tuition fee and other course-related expenses. Admission Certificate: A provisional or final degree certificate for undergraduate/graduate courses. Grade Conversion Formula: If applicable, a document from the university showing how grades are converted into marks. Cover Letter: Stating that the student is bound by the conditions set by the Backward Classes Welfare Department and that all the information provided is correct.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria: The applicant must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of Karnataka. This is open to students from Backward Classes Category-1, 2A, 3A, and 3B of Karnataka. Educational Qualifications: For Postgraduate studies: The applicant should have completed the necessary qualifications for entry into an Postgraduate program at a foreign university. For Ph.D.: Applicants should have completed a Master's Degree and have been admitted to a Ph.D. program abroad. The total annual income of the applicant’s family should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. Age Limit: For Postgraduate students: Must be under 25 years of age. For Ph.D. students: Must be under 27 years of age. University Admission: The applicant must be admitted to a foreign university included in the Top 200 world university ranking and provide an Offer Letter/I-20 issued by the university. First-Year Applicants: Only students starting their first year of study abroad are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

List of Benefits
As an student, you will receive: Maximum Tuition Fee Support: Up to Rs. 10 lakh per year or the actual cost of tuition, whichever is lower. Duration of Financial Aid: Post Graduate Degree: Maximum 2 years or course completion period, whichever is earlier. Ph.D.: Maximum 3 years or course completion period, whichever is earlier. Payment Method: The scholarship amount will be provided in installments, based on the submission of necessary documents, progress reports, and course completion proof.

Terms & Conditions
Repayment Clause: If the student changes their university or course or if the study abroad is cut short for any reason, they must repay the scholarship amount with 15% annual interest. If the student provides false information during the application or course duration, they will be required to repay the full amount along with interest. Guarantor: A guarantor or guardian must provide immovable property as collateral for the scholarship amount. A Simple Registered/Equitable Mortgage Deed must be executed for this purpose. Progress Reports: Renewal students must submit annual progress reports from the concerned foreign university/institute to continue receiving financial assistance. Final Report: After completing the course, the student must submit a final report on the course completion to the department. Completion of Course: If the student does not complete their course or fails to fulfill the conditions specified, the department has the right to cancel the scholarship. Refund Clause: In case of non-completion or changing the course/university, the student and their family members will be liable to repay the scholarship amount with 15% interest.
