The South Asia Foundation (SAF) is a secular, non-profit, and non-political organization established in September 2000 with the primary aim of promoting regional cooperation and peace among the eight SAARC countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. SAF is committed to improving access to education and enhancing its quality across South Asia by supporting educational institutions, providing scholarships, and facilitating academic exchanges among students and scholars. Additionally, SAF recognizes the significance of cultural exchange in fostering understanding between communities and organizes various cultural events, festivals, and initiatives to celebrate the region's diverse cultural heritage.
