Beit Trust Postgraduate Scholarship
The Beit Trust offers prestigious postgraduate scholarships for nationals of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi to pursue Master’s degrees at partner universities in the UK and South Africa. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, professional experience, and leadership potential, aiming to develop future leaders who will contribute to their countries' development. The application process is currently open for the academic year starting September 2025 in the UK and January 2026 in South Africa.
Documents Required
Applicants submit the following documents: Signed Medical Certificate. University offer letter or details of courses for South African universities. Degree results and full transcripts. Curriculum Vitae (CV). Personal statement (up to 250 words). Recent photograph. Copy of a valid passport.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicantsm must meet the following criteria: Applicants must be nationals and permanent residents of Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi, and intend to return home after their studies. Preference is given to those with a Distinction or Merit (Upper Second Class) in their undergraduate degree. Those with lower grades may struggle to compete. Generally, those who already hold a postgraduate degree are not considered unless under exceptional circumstances. At least three years of relevant work experience is preferred, supported by a positive employer reference. Evidence of voluntary work is valued but not essential. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential, which is critical for contributing to the economic and social uplift of their country. Courses should align with developmental fields such as medicine, health, engineering, education, economic growth, agriculture, and conservation. A stated intention to return to the home country after completing the degree is required. Applicants must be accepted into one of the Beit Trust’s partner universities in the UK or South Africa before applying for the scholarship. Applicants must have completed an 18-month internship and at least a one-year posting in-country, with rural experience preferred.
